CANCELLATION OF STABLEFORD GREENSOMES
We had hoped to re-arrange the Stableford Greensomes which were cancelled on August 3rd due the flooding at Buchanan Castle. We were offered a date in September by Buchanan Castle, which we accepted, however, this has now changed and the Captain has reluctantly decided that due to conflicting Fixtures, the Stableford Greensomes will not take place this year. We are very disappointed, but hope to see as many ladies as possible at the Autumn Meeting on Monday 21st August at Dunblane.
The Treasurer will give those who had entered Buchanan Castle Greensomes a refund at Dunblane, if you are not playing at Dunblane the refund will be posted to you.
RETURN OF TROPHIES : We are starting to think about the 2017 AGM and prize-giving. If you have any trophies to return, please bring them with you to the Autumn Meeting or make arrangements to have them returned to any member of the committee as soon as possible.

Scottish Senior Women’s Open Match Play-update
Midland has 5 players in the top 16 gross qualifiers for the matchplay stages of the Scottish Senior Women’s Match Play Championship. Carnoustie Caledonia’s Frances Millar
shot a very impressive two over par 76 in the second round to come out on top in
qualifying at Blairgowrie. Millar’s round, the lowest of the tournament,
saw four birdies at the second, fifth, 10th and 11th to make her top
qualifier into the matchplay stages
First round leader Wendy Nicholson (Baberton) struggled on what was a drier day at Blairgowrie and had two double bogeys on her card, finishing on 83 and tied for third.
Senior Women’s Amateur Tain’s Mary Smith and The St Rule Club’s Fiona De Vries joined Millar with the only scores sub 80 on the day.
The top 16 gross and top 16 nett players will move onto the matchplay stages today.

There are 21 Midland members competing in The Scottish Senior Women's Open Championship which started at Blairgowrie at 8.00am this morning. Alas, the weather has been horrendous all day. The semi-final and final Matches were played at Glenbervie on Wednesday 21st June in great spirit. The rain which had threatened all morning finally arrived during the walk up the 17th during the semis and then poured down whilst we had lunch. It got very muggy and all waterproofs came off!
The golf during the Final was very high quality and the Match was extremely close until Fiona played a killing shot to within inches of the pin for a birdie on the 18th! Congratulations to Fiona, who will go forward to represent Midland in the Scottish Vets Championships at Blairgowrie in September.

RESULT : MIDLAND V WEST 22/05/2017
The West managed to defeat us 7-3 albeit with friendly rivalry! We witnessed Midland team members wrestling with too many bunkers but many a laugh could be heard. Thanks to all the players - a terrific group with a great sense of humour.
We shall be back next year with renewed strength and energy.
