HOLE-IN-ONE

Our Captain, Dorothy Ford, returned to Leven Links Golf Course today to be presented with a flag from the Club to commemorate her hole-in-one at the Autumn Meeting.

Walking on to the 7th green on Wednesday, Dorothy was initially disappointed that the ball lying a few yards from the hole was that of her playing partner, Ruth McConkey. However, this soon turned to delight when her ball was discovered in the hole! The club used for the 114yd hole was a 9 iron.

This was Dorothy's third hole-in-one.  The first was in 1979 on the 14th hole at Arbroath Golf Club, at the tender age of 16.  The second was in 2002 at the 3rd hole at Scotscraig playing in a social golf evening with her father-in-law and two sons.  It was great that the third was in a Midland Vet's event during her year as Captain.

Thanks to Joan Prentice and Linda McDonald for instigating this presentation, to Secretary Gail Devereaux and the Council of Leven Golfing Society for organising it and to Matthew Brown (Assistant Pro) for presenting the flag.

Finally, thanks again to Leven Golfing Society for hosting our Autumn Meeting and making us all so welcome.

Matthew Brown and Dorothy Ford

AUTUMN MEETING - RESULTS

The Autumn Meeting took place today at Leven Golf Links in dry, sunny conditions.  67 ladies took part.  The course proved challenging for many players but there were still some great scores recorded.

Well done to Lorna Bennett (Ladybank) for returning the best scratch score of the day.  Lorna had a fantastic 3 under par score of 31 for the first nine, finishing with a one over par score of 73.

The Owl Trophy for the best nett score in the age category 50-64 was won by Lorna McKinlay (Dunnikier) with a nett 71.

The Senior Vet's Trophy for ladies aged 65 and over was won by Di Davidson (Stirling) with a nett 72 narrowly beating Christine Rodgers (Dunnikier) on the BIH.

Highlight of the day for the Captain, Dorothy Ford, was a hole in one at the 114yd 7th hole.

Thanks go to Leven Golfing Society for hosting us for the day.

Last but not least, many thanks to Linda McDonald for all her hard work as convenor of the competition and manning the desk for the day.
