The Senior Women's Home Internationals ended yesterday with Scotland "winning" the wooden spoon. A draw with Wales on the last day meant that Wales finished with a slightly better "games won" column, 9 to Scotland's 8.5, edging Scotland into last place.
The title-deciding match between Ireland and England was all square after the foursomes but wins by Gertie McMullen, Sheena McElroy and Laura Webb in the singles gave the Irish a 4.5-3.5 victory, ending England's bid for a fourth title in a row.
FINAL POSITIONS
1 Ireland 3pts
2 England 2pts
3 Wales 0.5pts (games won 9)
