The eight qualifiers for the Midland Vets Championship emerging from today's Summer Meeting at the Kinross Montgomery course battled the elements as well as each other this afternoon in the first round of the matchplay.Conditions were very blustery initially but the wind did die down somewhat in the early evening and there was a welcome blink of sunlight to end a very tiring but enjoyable day.

Elaine Moffat (St. Regulus) beat Aileen Baker (Crail) 6&4
Fiona de Vries (St. Rule) beat Shelagh Quinn (Stirling) 3&1
Dianne Watson (Leven GS) beat Claire Capocci (Bridge of Allan) 2&1
Tomorrow's semi-finals are at 10.00am and 10.08am with the final scheduled for 3.04pm.
