Today 63 players contested for the first trophies of the new season with the Committee welcoming a number of new members to the Vets. The day started chilly and misty, but within the hour the sun broke through, creating the beginnings of a warmer day, although in the shade of the trees, I'm told there was still a real chill. By the middle of the afternoon some players were enjoying sitting on the new patio area at 18th hole.
The course has been regarded for 2023, making it play slightly longer on some holes, and the greens being in very good condition for this early on in the season. Well done to all members who chose to participate today and support the Midland Division.
Congratulations go to all our winners, with Fiona Ross from Glenbervie winning the Allan Cup with the Best Nett Score of 69. The best Scratch Prize was won by Gillian Wallace from Blairgowrie, with a Gross score of 79.

Pat Bow, Past Captain and myself spent 2 days with the Scottish Vets at Barassie Links this weekend in support of the Scottish team and especially Elaine Moffat, Midland Vets, who was selected to play. The sun shone on both days, although there was still a cold wind, which on the coast was freezing at some holes.
There was a great deal of laugher and friendship between the players, while still focussing on their team and individual matches.
Following the matches of 4bbb on the Sunday and 8 individual games on the Monday, the Irish proved sound winners, 7.5 - 4.5. The presentation of the trophy was made by Fiona de Vries, Scottish Captain, and a member of the Midland Vets.
