The Autumn Meeting took place today at Stirling Golf Club. The number of entries was lower than
previous Autumn Meetings.
The day started at 7 am with a notification that the course
was closed due to flooding. Using the new
software, we could email players directly with updates allowing members to make
their own decisions - balancing travel distance and forecasts - there were a
number of call-offs. In the end, the
heavy rain stopped, the ground drained enough to satisfy the greenkeepers and the
course finally opened. Our first times
were delayed by 25 mins and thankfully the Meeting was held in glorious weather.
All of the scores were on the high side which reflected the
ground conditions. Congratulations to
Claire Capocci for returning the best scratch score of the day - an 82 winning
the Patrick Rosebowl.
The Owl Trophy for the best nett score in the age category
50 – 64 was won by Caroline Henderson with a nett 78.
The Senior Vets Trophy for the best nett score in the age
category 65+ was won by Elma Leisk with a nett 74. This was also the best Overall Nett score,
so doubly well done.
My thanks go to the Greenkeepers for working ahead of our ladies
preparing the way; Scott in the Pro shop
for managing the tee times of our competition and the ‘early-bird members’; the catering staff and the office staff. Particular thanks to the Convener, Ashley Leitch
and Committee Member Evelyn Hamilton who worked as a great team, welcoming
members, sorting start times and entering scores.

previously agreed that no member could win more than one prize at a Meeting and

Please click here for the Autumn Meeting Draw at Stirling Golf Club on Monday 5 September 2022.
We look forward to Signing you in at the Welcome Desk.
This is a Strokeplay Competition and there will be a Label on your card with your H'Cap Index, Playing Handicap and Course Handicap for Stirling. Please confirm that your Handicap is correct on the day.
We will be playing for some Age Related Trophies - you will be asked discreetly to confirm which competition we have you entered for.😉
As usual, Players will be exchanging cards. It would help, when you verify your score for each hole with your Marker, that you add up both 9's.
Please return your Signed Card to the Welcome Desk and your score will be entered onto the Computer by a Committee Member.
Robert, the Catering Manager, knows we will be coming and will be ready to serve rolls on arrival and the usual Menu at Stirling Golf Club will be available throughout the day. Please support the club if you can and order at the Bar.
There is an on course toilet between the 9th Green and the 10th Tee. We will give you the code on the day.
Any questions/cancellations please contact the Meeting Convener: Ashley Leitch, (email: ash.leitch54@gmail.com Mobile: 07593 609639)
VLGA JAMBOREE
The Veteran Ladies Golfing Association Jamboree was held at Moor Park Golf Club from the 9th to 11th August. Congratulations to Elaine Moffat who was selected to represent Scotland. The Team was captained by Fiona de Vries.
The Jamboree was won by South who retain the Miller Sterling Trophy. Scotland failed to win any of their matches, however, Elaine won both her foursomes and singles matches on Day 1 and halved both her single matches on the following two days. Well played Elaine!
EUROPEAN SENIOR LADIES TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to Alison Davidson and Elaine Moffat who have been selected to represent Scotland at the European Senior Ladies Team Championship at Golf Arboretum in Slovenia from 30th Aug to 3rd Sept.
The Stableford Greensomes Competition was played today at Drumoig Golf Club. The heatwave created Mediterranean conditions - the only thing missing was the 'Refreshments Buggy' There was a great run on the ball because of the dry conditions and scoring was very good.
Thanks to Evelyn Hamilton who did a great job as Convener, managing the Draw, welcoming the Players and getting everyone out on time.
Congratulations to Aileen Baker and Hilary Scott who won the Stableford Salver with a Fabulous Score of 43 Points playing off a Team Playing Handicap of 4. Although they are just outside the prizes because its a Handicap Competition, I feel a special mention has to go to Dorothy Ford and Linda McDonald who scored 41 points with a Team Playing Handicap of 6.
Well done to everyone
