2011 AGM - Glenbervie GC - 26th October
The 2011 Midland Vets AGM was held at Glenbervie Golf Club on Wednesday 26th October. Emma Wilson stood down as Captain after serving 2 years in her usual friendly and efficient manner. The new Captain is Winifred MacCallum and the new Vice-Captain is Liz Fertacz. Joan Ritchie (Auchterarder) was elected to the committee.

Senior Home Internationals - Tramore
Unfortunately Scotland did not come out on top at the Senior Home Internationals in Ireland last week. England beat Ireland with the last putt on the last green to win. Final results were 1st England, 2nd Ireland, 3rd Scotland and 4th Wales. Well done to Lorna, Heather and Elaine for representing Scotland so steadfastly in the matches.

SVLGA Blairgowrie Meeting - Greensomes - 20th September
I am pleased to report that Rose Graham and Shelagh Quinn gained 3rd prize in the Beddows Quaich Greensomes competition on Tuesday 20th September with a nett 71.8. Heather Anderson and Lorna Bennett won the scratch vouchers prize with a score of 80. Congratulations!

SVLGA Blairgowrie Meeting - 19 September
Congratulations to Midland Vet Heather Anderson who won both the Patrick Rosebowl (best nett) and Lyon Picture (best scratch) with an excellent gross 76 (less 4 = nett 72) at Blairgowrie Rosemount today in the SVLGA Autumn Meeting. Midland won the Lyon Trophy for the Divisional Team returning the lowest aggregate of 3 nett scores - Congratulations ladies. The CSS was 77 and the competiton was counting. Norma Fleming was 2nd in the 5 club competition over the Wee Course.
And also congratulations to Linda Dyball who reached the semi-finals of the SVLGA Championship by beating Pat Hutton yesterday in the quarter finals. Unfortunately Linda lost today to Linda Urquhart from North, but played some great golf, and is rewarded by wining one of the Kennaway Quaichs for the beaten semi-finalists. The Championship was won by Noreen Fenton of East.

Results from Autumn Meeting at Blairgowrie
74 Midland Vets enjoyed a great day on the Rosemount Course at Blairgowrie today - Thursday 1st September. We had a beautiful, slightly autumnal, but warm and windless day, and the course was in excellent condition. Very many thanks to Blairgowrie for hosting our Autumn Meeting. Some ladies found the fairways a bit tight, and the greens difficult to read, but some ladies played very well. The CSS was 74 - equivalent to the SSS. Par is 74 also.

Results of Jamboree at Wellingborough
Unfortunately Scotland did not retain the Miller Stirling Trophy at Wellingborough this week. The winners were South and runners up were Midlands. Scotland were 3rd with North bringing up the rear as 4th. A disappointing result for Scotland, but our Midland Vets representatives played well. Hopefully Scotland will fare better in the Senior Home Internationals.

Scottish Vets at Jamboree at Wellingborough
The Vets Jamboree will take place at Wellingborough this week on Wednesday10th, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th August. Midland Vets are well represented by Elaine Allison (Stirling), Heather Anderson(Blairgowrie) and Lorna Bennett(Ladybank).

Match vs East Vets - Tuesday 2nd August - Midland Vets retain Quaich
The re-arranged match with the East Vets team for mid handicappers(6-9approx) took place at Dunfermline Golf Club today. The team was playing to retain the Liz Miskimmin Friendship Quaich, the trophy that our late President Liz donated last year for this friendly match.
The weather was rather wet, but warm, and there was no wind. It was played in very friendly spirit just as Liz had intended. Midland Vets retained the trophy by 5 games to 2. Our team was supported by Captain Emma Wilson and Vice Captain Winifred MacCallum and the East Vets team was supported by the playing Captain Noreen Fenton. Results

Greensomes at Crieff - Monday 25th July
Midland Vets had an excellent day at Crieff - beautiful sunshine and a course that was in excellent condition - all ready for the Virgin PGA competition tomorrow - some (most?) ladies thought that the greens were rather fast and difficult to read! That did not deter our Midland Vets Captain, however!

Summer Meeting - Falkirk Carmuirs - 23rd June
Ladies! It is now time to enter the Summer Meeting - playing for the Donaldson Quaich and also the Championship Qualifier. The meeting is at Falkirk Carmuirs on Thursday 23rd June. It is a different venue for Midland Vets, and we are looking forward to playing this excellent course with great views including the Falkirk Wheel! Unfortunately the Midland Vets team lost to the North Vets team at Glenisla by 5-2 on Thursday 12th May. This is the first time that Midland have lost the trophy since 2007.

Senior Womens' Match vs Ireland - 17 - 18 April
Scotland, despite a brave fightback in the singles, lost 6 1/2-5 1/2 to Ireland in the two-day senior women's amateur golf international match for the Mary McKenna Trophy at Craigielaw Golf Club. Midland Vets were represented by Lorna Bennett, Elaine Allison and Heather Anderson. Elaine and Heather were representing Midland Vets for the first time. Congratulations to Lorna Bennett on her hole in one at the 6th hole.

Results of Spring Meeting - Wednesday 13th April 2011
Midland Vets enjoyed a dry, but windy, day at the Eden Course at St Andrews for the Spring Meeting. Everyone enjoyed playing at St Andrews even if the scores were on average, quite high. However, some Vets coped with the conditions and the course very well, especially one of our National Squad players Lorna Bennett (Ladybank) who had an excellent score of 72 less 2 = 70. The competition was Reduction Only (RO) – CSS-75 - Par- 73, SSS-72
