UPDATE FROM AGM

The present Ladies Committee met on 23rd November 2023, to discuss the outcome of the AGM and the way forward for our Division.

The Motion to change Item 4 of the Constitution -"The Captain and Vice Captain shall hold office for one or two years, and the Captain and Vice Captain shall be elected from any one of the 3 Counties, Fife, Perth/Kinross and Stirling/Clackmannan."

This Motion was passed unanimously and has now been written into the Constitution which is available on the Website.

The Committee said good bye to Pat Bow, Past Captain and welcomed Shirley Fleming to the Committee.

However, as the present Past Captain, I wish to draw your attention to the serious situation future Committees will be facing. At the end of season 2024, the Committee will loose Aileen Baker, Treasurer, Fiona Johnston, Past Captain and Evelyn Hamilton, Committee member, all of whom will have served 3 years.  That will leave only 3 Committee members.  Therefore it is essential our members give serious consideration to joining the Committee for the 2024/25 season. This year we have No Captain or Vice Captain

Should the circumstances continue we may be facing not having a Midland Division for ladies to join, which would be a really sorry situation for all concerned.  Your assistance is needed urgently.

On a happier note we are pleased to confirm our Fixtures for 2024.

Spring meeting - 10th April - Eden, St Andrew's

Summer Meeting/Championship - 15th/16th July - Bruce Course, Kinross

4BBB - 15th August - Bathgate

Autumn Meeting - 5th September - Dumferline

9 hole Competition - 7th June - Milnathort

Inter-Division Matches

North v Midlands - Strathmore - 9th May

Midland v. East - Ladybank - 13th May

Midland v. West - Auchterader - 27th May

Again, I can not over emphasis the importance of your attendance at the AGM, in order for the above issues to be discussed in detail, while enjoying a social lunch and celebrating alongside our Prize winners.

INTERNATIONAL DUTY CALLS

 Lorna McKinlay and Elaine Moffat

You may have noticed that the above two ladies were not playing at Strathmore last week.  The reason was that both have been selected for the forthcoming Home Internationals, due to be held on 19th-21st September 2023 at West Kilbride and Tuesday 29th August was a practice day  for the team.

I wish to express my congratulations to both and I'm sure all the ladies from the Midland Division extend their best wishes to them and hope the Scottish team have a great tournament.

The first week in September is also going to be a busy time for both ladies, with Lorna flying off to play in Sawgrass, following her winning a hole in 1 competition.  I'm sure she will enjoy her week in the USA.

Elaine has also been selected for the Senior European Team to play between 5th-9th September at the Parador de El Saler Golf Club, Valencia.

Again well done to you both. You are certainly keeping the Midland Division on the Golfing map and calander.

RESULTS OF AUTUMN MEETING AT STRATMORE

Hi Folks, can I first apologise for the delay in the results coming through thclick heree Scottish Golf App, but as relayed by email there has been a glitch in the system between approval of the course, Club V1 and Scottish Golf.  The Club has approved and Club V1 are checking systems and I am awaiting to hear from Scottish Golf.

However, Evelyn and I had already completed the scoring and recording of winners before the issue occurred.

The day itself was very good with 53 members playing in mainly beautiful sunshine.  The course was in great condition with the green-keepers having rolled the greens early that morning.  The hospitality as expected was of a excellent standard and it was good to see so many members enjoy the surroundings and socialising with one another.

This was our last Competition of the season, so I hope you have enjoyed the venture as much as the Committee and I.  Information regarding the Blairgowrie Ballot selection and the AGM on 19th October at Dunblane will be coming at the beginning of September.

MVLGA SUMMER MEETING AND CHAMPIONSHIOP FINAL AT BALBIRNIE PARK GOLF CLUB

 SVLGA (Midland Division) Championship

The Final of the Midland Vets Ladies Championship between Elaine Moffat ( St Regulus) and Aileen Baker (Crail) was held today in glorious sunshine, with the course being in a wonderful condition, to test both players.  Both losing Semi-finalists, Lorna McKinlay and Linda McDonald provided their caddying services in the afternoon, which was greatly welcomed.

The standard of play in the Quarter-finals yesterday and the Semi-finals this morning proved to be of a very good standard and this was only to built on in the final. The supporters following the game were treated to an exhibition of some wonderful golf from both players, especially approach shots to the green and challenging putts to either win or half the holes.

Congratulations goes to Elaine Moffat, who won the match 2/1.  The presentation of the Lady McInnes Shaw Cup was made in the Clubhouse, in the presence of the supporters, the Balbirnie Club Captain and Catering Manager, who catered for all our needs over the past 2 days.  Elaine Moffat will now represent the Midland Division at SVLGA Championship at Blairgowrie in September.

A special mention must be made to George Allan, Club Captain, who followed the final throughout, and during our Summer Meeting yesterday ensured the greens were playable following the heavy downpours at lunchtime.  The warm welcome we received at Balbirnie Golf Club was second to none ,which made the whole event a very enjoyable experience and a venue I would recommend visiting again.

RESULTS OF THE MIDLAND VS THE WEST MATCH AT DULLATUR GOLF CLUB

Today the Midland ladies travelled to Dullatur to play their annual match against the West Division.  The course itself was a challenge with some steep hills and some long walks from Green to Tee.  The match was played in good spirits with the extra bonus of the sun shining all day.  The course is in a beautiful setting and following the match, all enjoyed a great meal in the club house

Prior to the meal, the presentation of the Mid-West Trophy was made by Lesley Llloyd (West Captain) to Fiona Johnston (Midland Captain).  Midland won the match 4-3.  This was followed by photos of the Winning Team and all the players.

Congratulations Midland ladies for agreeing to represent the Division and bringing home the trophy.  Well done to you all.  Thank- you.
