MIDLAND VETS AGM AND PRIZE GIVING

The Midland AGM and Prize Giving took place at Stirling Golf Club today. Fifty-four ladies turned up for the event and were graciously welcomed by Captain Liz Fertacz. After the election of office bearers, the new Captain, Bev Brown took over the proceedings. The out going Treasurer Liz Jones was commended for her many years hard work and was presented by Liz Fertacz with a beautiful bouquet of flowers as thanks and recognition for her work. Bev introduced Shelagh Quinn of Stirling Golf Club as her new Vice Captain and Meriel Walker from Blairgowrie Golf Club as the new Treasurer. Joan Ritchie from Elie stepped down as a committee member and Anne Wilson of Ladybank was elected to take over from her. The vote of thanks was given by Margaret Tough who filled in for Midland Champion Lorna Bennett who was away doing golf duties in Bulgaria. After the Prize Giving, everyone enjoyed a tasty lunch provided by Stirling Golf Club and the chance to catch up with fellow members.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LORNA BENNETT SVLGA CHAMPION

Congratulations to Lorna Bennett who won the SVLGA Championship at Strathmore Golf Club today. She met Mary Smith (Highland) in the final and managed to win on the 19th hole. Lorna was two up standing on the 17th tee and Mary birdied 17 and 18 which meant they had to carry on down the 19th. Well done Lorna!

SVLGA BLAIRGOWRIE EVENT


Congratulations to Midland member Janice Laing who won the Past President's Trophy at Blairgowrie yesterday. Muriel MacPherson was second.

The Tony Moffat Trophy for the best scratch score(Greensomes) was won my two more Midland members, Mary Hope and Gillian Wallace. They shot a gross 82, nett 73.4.









We are proud to announce that Emma Wilson was elected Vice President of the SVLGA. She was also our best scorer in the Patrick Rose Bowl coming 5th with a nett 75 having been beaten on the last six holes.

RESULTS AUTUMN MEETING

The sun was shining at Alyth today where 86 ladies gathered to play. Everyone had a very enjoyable time. The winner of the Owl Trophy was Irene Morrison with a nett 69. The winner of the Patrick Rose Bowl (Scratch) was Elaine Allison with a 74. The winner of the Senior Veteran's Trophy was Janice Lang with a nett 73. CSS was 72

SLGA SCOTTISH SENIOR LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP

Well done to Linda Dyball, Fiona de Vries and Elaine Allison who made it through to the knockout rounds of the Scottish Senior Championships. Despite high winds, Linda managed to card a par round!

Congratulations also go to Emma Wilson, Gillian Wallace and Moira Begbie who qualified for the handicap section of the competition. Good luck to all.

MASTER SCOREBOARD

The Midland Vets is now linked to the Master Scoreboard which is provided by the Handicap Master software. Once a competition is completed, you will be able to see the full results which are similar to How-Did-I-Do. Just click on the link on the right hand side and the rest is easy. You will also be able to click the mobile app button and that allows you to view all the information on your mobile phone.
To set up your account, you will need an access password. To obtain this password just email: svlga.midland@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

SUMMER MEETING TULLIALLAN THURSDAY 19TH JUNE 2014

Just a reminder that the Summer Meeting and Championship will be taking place next Thursday 19th June at Tulliallan. The draw will be done this Friday, so please make sure you sign up if you wish to play. As this is the Championship, the draw will be done in handicap order. The eight best scratch scores will qualify for the Championship knock out. The quarter finals will be played on the afternoon of the 19th June. The semi finals and finals will take place on the following day. Here's to a good day and let's hope the weather is kind to us.

MIDLAND VS WEST MATCH

Midland travelled to Ralston Golf Club near Paisley to play the annual match against the West. The weather was challenging, but everyone persevered. The matches were very competitive and four of them went to the 18th. The West team managed a very good win and came out on top six to one.

MIDLAND VS EAST MATCH RESULT

Midland played their match against the East at Mortonhall Golf Club. A good day was had by all and the result was close, but the East managed a 4/3 victory.

MIDLAND VS NORTH MATCH AT BLAIRGOWRIE

The match against the Northern Division took place on the Rosemount Course at Blairgowrie today after many years at Glenisla. Weatherwise, it turned out to be a perfect day and Captain Liz Fertacz is pleased to report that Midland managed to win 5 games to 2. Thanks go to team members: Fiona de Vries, Kathleen Webster, Heather Anderson, Elaine Allison Lorna Bennett, Margaret Tough,  and Linda Dyball.

RESULTS SPRING MEETING ELIE AND EARLSFERRY

Today 93 ladies played in the Spring Meeting at Elie and Earlsfery. The weather was beautiful with plenty of blue skies and sunshine. The winner of the of the Allan Cup (Best Nett) was Gillian Wallace  who had a nett 71. To see all the results Click Here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ANNUAL SUBS

The Midland Committee would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and let's hope we will all have a brilliant golfing season. The Midland Division has some super venues to look forward to with the Spring Meeting at Elie and Earlsferry, The Summer Meeting at Tulliallan, The Stableford Greensomes at Muckhart and the Autumn Meeting at Alyth. The Matches will be taking place at Blairgowrie-Midland v North, Mortonhall-   Midland V East and Ralston-Midland v West. Then let's not forget the SVLGA Open Meeting at Blairgowrie in September.

It is very pleasing to see that ladies have already been paying their Annual Subs online. Thank you as that really helps the work of the committee. If you are not planning to rejoin, please let us know as soon as possible. The Midland Division has the longest waiting list of any division in the SVLGA and there are some ladies who are really looking forward to the opportunity of joining us. Please remember, if you do resign, you will still have Associate Membership where you will receive a fixture card and you are still entitled to attend the AGM and lunch.
