MIDLAND v WEST MATCH

The SVLGA Midland Division Team played against the West Division at Glenbervie Golf Course today.   The weather was very changeable with winds and heavy rain mixed with dry and sunny spells.

The Match was played in very good spirits and I'd like to thank all of the Team, they fought bravely in the challenging conditions.   The Silver Salver was won by the West and we look forward to the opportunity to bring it back to the Midlands next year.

MIDLAND V's NORTH MATCH

The SVLGA Midland Division played the North Division at Alyth Golf Course today.   Alyth has lost hundreds of trees over the winter storms and work is underway to clear up but that didn't prevent a hotly contested competition.

The Matches started in lovely sunshine but a cold wind was blowing by the end of the seventh and final game.   The Trophy, first played for in 1959, has been in Midland hands since 2012.

After a very exciting day with the Match swinging this way and that, Midland had to win on the very last green to secure a half Match and retention of the Trophy.   The tricky putt on a difficult green didn't drop for us and the Trophy headed North for the first time in 10 years.

The Trophy was presented to the Ann Conlon, Captain of the North, by Nancy Duncan the President of SVLGA.   Nancy had played in the Midland v North Match many times over her golfing career.

MIDLAND VS EAST MATCH

The SVLGA Midland Division played the East Division at Ladybank Golf Course today.   Luckily the chilly overcast start developed into a lovely warm afternoon.   The players headed out in friendship but every match was keenly contested.   The overall result was the same as last year, a halved match, and the Liz Miskimmin Friendship Quaich was brought back to the Midland Division for another year.   Well Done Everyone!

Red squirrels were spotted on the course and the clubhouse catering, before and after the match, was excellent.
