TREASURER'S REPORT 2020

As we all know this has been rather an unusual year, one which will hopefully not be repeated.

Please click here to view the MVLGA 2019-20 accounts.

We close the year with a reconciled balance of £5922.68.   This takes in any vouchers and cheques that have not been presented.    The presentation of vouchers this year has been extended until the 31st December.

We don’t really have any discrepancies in the accounts other than one of our members forgot to put the “dot” in between £15 and 00 and paid us very generously £1500 for her subscription and one lady from Midland Vets England paid us instead of her own Region – possibly senior moments  - but both reimbursed.   You will notice those in the accounts summary.

An addition to the role of Treasurer, as we have no Secretary, is membership.  To date we have 167 members plus one on hold and one on medical exemption.   We had 13 new members, 16 resignations and 6 who didn’t reply.

Another additional role is looking after anything regarding the SVLGA.  This year we didn’t pay any dues to them.   With regards to Blairgowrie the ballot that was carried out will stand for 2021.

Mr Nicolas Morris will examine the accounts for next year.

Just a reminder – please remember you have paid your subs for 2020/2021.

CAPTAIN'S REPORT 2020

I would like to inform the membership that the next AGM Lunch and Prizegiving for the Midland Vets will be Wednesday 20th October 2021 at Glenbervie Golf Club. Unfortunately for us all, season 2020 holds no sunny pictures and memories of our golfing programme in the Midland Vets. However,"Hope springs eternal" and your committee has set in place, a rollover of the fixtures as follows: SPRING MEETING Monday 19th April 2021 Auchterarder Golf Club SUMMER/CHAMPIONSHIP Monday 5th and 6th July Tulliallan Golf Club G'somes Stableford Thursday 12th August Dunnikier Golf Club Autumn Meeting Wednesday 1st September Leven Golf Club Annual Matches Midland vs North Alyth Thursday 6th May " East Mortonhall Thursday 13th May " West Troon Portland Thursday 27th May Our Treasurer, Joan Prentice and the committee on the 2020 fixture card have said they will continue for the rollover into the 2021 season. Dorothy Ford from Scotscraig will take up the Captain's office and is delighted to inform you that her Vice Captain will be Pat Bow from Glenbervie. I will slip into Margaret Tough's position as Past Captain. May I take this opportunity to thank Margaret, on your behalf for her unstinting leadership and support and on a personal level, Margaret, you are not off the hook just yet. As you are aware the post of secretary has been unfilled for two years and it is to Margaret's credit that a new work practice, shared amongst the committee has resulted in an efficient and purposful administration. Thank you to all the committee "gals" for your continuing support. The current membership is S&C 43 members Fife 57 members and P&K 67 members. Everything seems to be nicely "tee"ed up for next season ladies, and lets hope that the VIRUS is under control and we are all able to enjoy our golf courses and the friendship of THE MIDLAND VETS. Best wishes, Liz The Financial Report will follow

SVLGA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, Monday 21st September 2020

History was created last evening in the annals of the SVLGA when the AGM was conducted by ZOOM. Maureen McKerrow, retiring President, welcomed 28 participants and in Maureen's own words the 14 point Agenda rattled through like an express train. The Captain, Karen Ballantyne, reported that all administation was in place for anticipated return to "normal services" 2021 season. The Jamboree 2021 is scheduled for 3rd to 5th August at Glenbervie Golf Club and the Irish Match will take place at Rogunstoun from 29th to 30th March. The Championship and Blairgowrie dates are 19th to 20th September. The SVLGA committee presented some adaptations to the Constitution to facilitate management decisions in unusual conditions such as a Pandemic. These proposals were unanmimously carried. Maureen "handed over" the Presidency to Nancy Duncan who thanked Maureen for her cheery and optimistic style. Nancy is honoured to be President of the SVLGA becuse it is "THE BEST"organisation she has ever joined. The SVLGA will continue with Marjory Rae Vice President, Karen Ballantyne 2nd year as Captain,Fiona De Vries 2nd year vice captain and Moira Begbie in her 3rd year as Treasurer. Alison Houston has completed a commendable service of six years as secretary is handing over to Anne Paterson Borders who stalwartly volunteered for the position. SVLGA Decides to Rollover 2020 Golf Season to 2021

The SVLGA committee made the decision at the beginning of May to abandon all golfing events programmed for 2020 season.
The Jamboree, hosting the English Divisions at Glenbervie Golf Club will now take place there from Monday 2nd to 5th August 2021.
The Scottish Championship will not be contested this year. The SVLGA Championship Finals will take place on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th September 2021 at Blairgowrie as usual.
Consequently, the Blairgowrie event will run on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st September 2021.

The exact reasons for taking this course of action also apply to the Midland Vets.
People of a senior age joining together from three Counties with catering facilities severely restricted.
Your Midland Vets' Committee decided that the right thing was to follow suit and rearrange the 2020
into 2021.
Thank you to everyone who paid their 2020 subscription. The official membership is 68 members from
P&K, 57 members from Fife and 43 members from S&C. Your membership will rollover to include the 2021 season, unless you intimate otherwise.
I have decided not to "rollover" my captaincy, however I will remain on the committee as Past Captain and along with Dorothy and a new Vice Captain we will carry the Midland Vets forward.
I will post all the new dates for the 2021 Fixture Card when I have them all firmly in place.

Meantime, enjoy being back on the fairways of your own clubs and renew your zest for the game we all
love.

Take care, and enjoy the three hour rounds, while we have them!

Liz Milligan Captain.

Sheila Johnston, Ladybank Member

Sadly, we report the passing of Sheila Johnston, who lost her brave fight against cancer last Tuesday.
Sheila was a Midland Vet and member of Ladybank Golf club, where she was a club champion and Lady Captain.
She survived her husband's death, only by a few months, and despite enduring some harsh medical treatments,
her outlook remained positive.
Sheila will be remembered fondly by many of our members.
