INTER-DIVISIONAL MATCH BETWEEN THE MIDLAND AND WEST DIVISIONS ON 27th MAY

Monday of this week saw the last of our Inter-Divisional matches for the season and I would like to thanks the ladies who were available and able to play on the day.  I had been informed on the Sunday that the course at Auchterarder was closed due to wet weather, but we were fortunate that the early sunshine on Monday morning made the close playable, especially as the West team were travelling from as far afield as Troon.

As planned the teams enjoyed bacon rolls with coffee/teas prior to our match teeing off at 11.00am. The threatening rain did not emerge until later in the day, when most groups were on the last few holes.  The final result, I feel, does not reflect the closeness of the matches, with 4 matches being decided on the 18th green.

As is our procedure, a two course meal followed the match along with the presentation of the trophy, which on this occasion saw the West being the winners.  Excluding the overall result, a good day was had by all, with many friendship meeting up on the day.

My thanks goes to the team of Charlotte Wighton, Margaret Tough, Fay Ronaldson, Shonia Hutchison, Myrtle Gilbert, Evelyn Hamilton and Fiona Johnston.

Fay Ronaldson lost to Anabel Kean

INTER-DIVISIONAL MATCH AGAINST THE EAST-DIVISION

This was our second Inter-Divisional match of the season and it took place at Ladybank Golf Club.  Again we were blessed with good weather and it was great to see both teams on the practice areas prior to the games, following the coffee/tea and bacon rolls in the clubhouse.

The course was in very good condition with beautiful sand in the bunkers and the greens running very true, although a little slow on some occasions. There was a great amount of laughter, before and after the match with players exchanging experiences of the new season, alongside individual family chats on everything and anything.

Prior to the 2 course meal in the late afternoon, the presentation of the Trophy was made by Sal Shepherd, East Captain to Fiona Johnston, Midland Past Captain. This resulted in the Midland team retaining the silverware for another year. The result was 5.5 - 1.5.  A special thanks goes to Evelyn Hamilton who organised the whole event, exclusive of selecting the team.  It certainly was an excellent day in lovely surroundings

Elsie Hutcheson beat Barbara Biggart

Lesley Gibb beat Dianne Brown

Jude Allardice halved Marie Pollock

Morag Wardrop beat Gail Mathieson

Claire Capocci beat Sharon Lynch

Joyce Murdoch beat Louise Casey

Fiona Johnston lost Fiona Larnach.

Our best wishes go to Linda Dyball, who was originally part of team, and had to withdraw at short notice due to a hand injury.

9 HOLE COMPETITION AT MILNATHORT ON FRIDAY 7th JUNE 2024

The event is a new venture for the Midland Vets for 2024. It will be run in the same way as all other Competitions, with the added hope that some of our ladies, who do not like just playing 18 holes on every occasion, may participate.

The closing date for the Competition is 28th May 2024. Sheila Travers, will not be playing on the day, therefore, will be available for any advice on the day.

Please click here to access the form and submit in the usual way.

I do hope you will support this new event and I look forward to seeing you there on 7th June 2024.

INTER-DIVISION MATCH - MIDLAND Vs THE NORTH

Yesterday, 9th May 2024 saw the first of our Inter-Divisional matches of the season being held against the North Division at Strathmore Golf Club.  The weather was very kind to us, with full sunshine all day. The course was in great condition and the golf was of a very high standard, with 2 games finishing on the 17th and the rest on the 18th hole.

The morning commenced with coffee/tea and bacon rolls and prior to the tee offs, team photos were taken. A 2 course meal was provided in the clubhouse, after the matches, followed by the presentation of the trophy.

This year, The North Trophy was retained by the The North team, with a win of 4-3.

Well done to all the players to travelled to represent the Midlands and for providing entertaining golf for Linda Urquhart, the North Captain and myself.

The Midland team :- Margo Gardener, Elaine Moffat, Lorna Bennett,  Aileen Baker, Dorothy Ford, Lorna McLinlay and Hilary Scott.

The North team :- Jackie Brown, Sheena Wood, Kathleen Sutherland, Frances Miller, Jean Harrison, Fiona Hay and Kim Watt.

Our next Inter-Divisional match is against the East at Ladybank on Monday 13th May.

SPRING MEETING RESULTS AT THE EDEN 30th APRIL

Following the postponement of our Spring and Opening meeting on 18th April, we were fortunate that the Links Trust at St Andrews were able to accommodate us on a full course on the 30th April. Although there was a good wind, the sun was warm and we all escaped any driving rain.

Our numbers, however, dropped from 70 to 52 players, but from what I hear, I'm sure the players enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with friends, they may not have seen over the winter, and also to get the chance to meet players that they did not know before.

The Winner of the Allan Trophy was Alex Glaister, from Muckhartf Golf Club, with a Nett score of 69. Our Scratch winner was Linda Allan, Glenbervie Golf Club with a Gross score of 76.

For all other winners click here the attached file.

Please also click here to view  Gross scores of all the players.

Please also click here to view Nett scores of all the players,  Please ignore the (Draft) in brackets, this was when the computer failed when were attempting to post the results. The Nett scores are correct for all players.

A quick reminder that the next Meeting is on the 7th June at Milnathort Golf Club which is a 9 hole competition.
