RESULTS OF THE MIDLAND VS THE WEST MATCH AT DULLATUR GOLF CLUB

Today the Midland ladies travelled to Dullatur to play their annual match against the West Division.  The course itself was a challenge with some steep hills and some long walks from Green to Tee.  The match was played in good spirits with the extra bonus of the sun shining all day.  The course is in a beautiful setting and following the match, all enjoyed a great meal in the club house

Prior to the meal, the presentation of the Mid-West Trophy was made by Lesley Llloyd (West Captain) to Fiona Johnston (Midland Captain).  Midland won the match 4-3.  This was followed by photos of the Winning Team and all the players.

Congratulations Midland ladies for agreeing to represent the Division and bringing home the trophy.  Well done to you all.  Thank- you.

SUMMER MEETING AND CHAMPIONAHIP

Entry is now open for the Summer Meeting Championship at Balbirnie Park Golf Club on Tuesday 20th June 2023.

We will be playing for the Donaldson Quaich (Best Nett) and the Poppy Paperweight (70+).

The Trophy for the Championship is the Lady McInnes Shaw Cup.

The top 8 Scratch scores quality for the Championship.  The Quarter-finals are played in the afternoon of the 20th June and the Semi-final and Final on the 21st. June.

SVLGA (Midland Division) will hope to bring back the Midwest Trophy following the Inter-Divisional match against SVLGA (West Division) at Dullatur Golf Club on Monday 29th May 2023.

RESULTS OF THE MIDLAND VS NORTH DIVISION MATCH

The 11th May saw Blairgowrie Golf Club bathed in warm sunshine when the North Team arrived for our annual match, to be played on the Rosemount Course.  Following a relaxed morning of bacon rolls/coffee and a general catch up between players, as many already knew one another from a different golf setting.  

Prior to the match Fiona Johnston, Midland Captain, made a presentation, of a framed tapestry depicting a Lady Golfer, to the Blairgowrie Managing Secretary, Stuart Wilson and his admin staff, for all their assistance in hosting this event.

All the pairings with announced onto the tee by Tim Edwards, our starter, after individual photos were taken under the shade of the May blossom.

The standard of golf was extremely high, a testimony to the low handicaps the players play off and a great spectacle for us Team Captains to witness.  The games were very close with the resulting honours going to the North Division. 

The match was followed by a 2 course meal in the dinning room, before final team photos with taken with the trophy.

RESULT OF THE MIDLAND VS EAST DIVISION

Yesterday the SVLGA  East Division welcomed the Midlands team to Longniddry Golf Club for our Annual Match. To our surprise the weather proved to be unexpectedly warm and sunny throughout the day.  After bacon rolls/coffee and much chat the players headed out to contest for the Liz Miskimmin Friendship Quaich, which resulted in an overwhelming win for the Midland Division.  An excellent display from all our team players.  Well done ladies.  The ladies wore our New Jackets and Gillets for the team photos.

Many thanks goes to Lorna McKinlay, Midland Vice Captain, who organised the day on behalf of the Midland Division. Following very complimentary speeches from both Sal Shepherd and Lorna McKinlay, Lorna received the trophy on behalf on the Midland Division.

The SVLGA (Midland Division) is hoping upturn the result of last year and regain the "Inter Divisional Match Trophy" against the SVLGA (North Division). This year the match is being held at Blairgowrie Golf Club on Thursday 11th May.
