Midland Vets has a lovely mix of experience in its team to play the West Vets in their annual match which will be hosted this year by the West Vets at Cochrane Castle G.C. on 7th June. We are delighted that our loyal and very hard-working Secretary, Margaret Hunter, who will be retiring from office in October, will be representing us. Millie Douglas and Joyce Murdoch will be hoping that the good form they displayed at the Spring Meeting at Blairgowrie continues and we are pleased to be offering new member, Lyn Murray, the opportunity to meet new Vets friends and enjoy this very friendly match. The full team is:-
Millie Douglas (Alyth)
Liz Fertacz (Blairgowrie)
Alison Houston (Ladybank)
Margaret Hunter (Blairgowrie)
Joyce Murdoch (Gullane)
Lyn Murray (Kinross)
Emma Wilson (Elie & Earlsferry)

MIDLAND VETS JUST COME UP SHORT IN MATCH AGAINST EAST VETS
Lorna Bennett congratulates East Captain, Caroline Kinnaird |
The Midland Vets team just failed to wrestle the aptly named Friendship Quaich from the East Vets in their annual match today at the delightful Liberton golf course in the centre of Edinburgh.
In perfect conditions,Midland's Gillian Wallace and Elsie Hutcheon both played well in scoring comfortable wins. The middle order matches were very closely contested and the destiny of the trophy was left in the hands of the last match on the course between Midland's Sarah Walker and East's Jane Herd. All square playing the 18th, Jane's nerves were tested when she was faced with a tricky 6 foot putt to win the hole and the match. She was up to the task. The putt was sunk and with it Midland's hopes of winning the Quaich.Well done and congratulations to the East Vets.
RESULTS (Midland names first):-
Gillian Wallace beat Sal Shepherd 6&4
Dorothy Ford lost to Sue Penman 6&5
Karen Burns halved with Susan Rennie
Margaret Tough halved with Morag Wardrop
Anne MacGregor lost to Carol Brown 2&1
Sarah Walker lost to Jane Herd 1 hole
Elsie Hutcheon beat Ruth Brown 5&3

Win or lose, everyone enjoyed the day with a course in excellent condition and lovely food served in the clubhouse. Not even very heavy late showers could spoil the party. Well done and congratulations ladies.
