SVLGA (Midland Division) Championship
The Final of the Midland Vets Ladies Championship between Alison Davidson (Stirling) and Lorna McKinlay (Dunnikier) was held today in initial sunshine, with the threat of heavy rain, which in the end only resulted in very little showers lasting only minutes. From the 15th onwards, we were back into full sunshine, which was enjoyed by all.
The course was in good condition, with the green s and pin positions being quite tricky. However, it was acknowledged by all players and the Professional that the bunkers were in very poor condition. A situation I have been informed is being addressed by the Club's Committee.
The standard of play in the Quarter-finals yesterday and the Semi-finals this morning proved to be of a very good standard and this was only to be built on in the final. The supporters following the game were treated to some great golf by both players, with challenging putts to win or half the holes.
The match was nip and tuck throughout, with Lorna only 1 up approaching the 18th. Congratulations, however, goes to Lorna McKinlay, who won the match 2 up on the 18th. The presentation of the Lady McInnes Shaw Cup was made in the Clubhouse, in the presence of the supporters. Lorna will now represent the Midland Division of the SVLGA Championship at Blairgowrie in September.
